⚠ DRAFT — This document has not been reviewed by legal counsel. It is provided as a good-faith statement of permitted use and must be reviewed before treating it as a final legal instrument.

TERMS OF USE — OPENOSINT DEMO

Applies to: the interactive BYOK demo at demo.openosint.tech.

Does not apply to: OpenOSINT Cloud (the authenticated paid service) — see openosint.tech/terms for that service.

Operator: Tommaso Bertocchi. Contact: openosint@yahoo.com.

By clicking “I have authorization — continue” on the authorization gate, you agree to these Terms.

1. AUTHORIZED USE ONLY

OpenOSINT is a tool for open-source intelligence (OSINT) research. You may use the demo only on targets for which you have explicit authorization to investigate, or which you have the right to investigate under applicable law (e.g. your own accounts, public records research, authorized security testing, or other lawful purposes).

You are solely responsible for determining whether your investigation is lawful in your jurisdiction and for obtaining any required authorization before submitting a target.

Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to: stalking, harassment, unauthorized investigation of private individuals, identity theft, corporate espionage, and any use that violates applicable law.

2. BRING YOUR OWN KEY (BYOK)

The demo does not include a bundled LLM or tool API credit. To run investigations you must supply your own API key for a supported LLM provider (Anthropic, OpenRouter, Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) and, optionally, keys for data sources such as Shodan or VirusTotal.

By supplying a key you represent that you are authorized to use that key and that your use of the downstream provider’s service complies with that provider’s terms. We are not responsible for charges, rate limits, or terms violations incurred with your own provider.

Your keys are stored in your browser session only; see the Privacy & Cookie Notice for details.

3. OPEN-SOURCE SOFTWARE

The OpenOSINT software is published under the MIT License on GitHub. The source code is available for review, self-hosting, and contribution subject to that license. These Terms govern use of the hosted demo only; the MIT License governs the source code itself.

4. NO WARRANTY

The demo and all results it returns are provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. OSINT data sourced from third-party APIs may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Do not make consequential decisions based solely on results from this tool without independent verification.

5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the demo or its results, including but not limited to harm caused by acting on inaccurate OSINT results or by unauthorized use of the tool.

6. CHANGES

These Terms may be updated; material changes will be posted at openosint.tech/demo/terms with a revised date. Continued use after posting constitutes acceptance.
